Hello! And welcome to my new website and new blog. Here I will keep you up to date with the goings on, life as a veterinary physio and some tips and advice along the way.

About me....
I grew up with a love for animals and as a child I always wanted to be a vet. From around 8 yrs I volunteered at various horse yards (those were the days before health and safety and insurance issues took over and you could just go out and get a job the same day!) As I got older things changed a little and I moved out of my home at 15 and moved around the country with my horse working at a few more yards before coming back to the area, having my first son and then deciding I didn't want to groom for the rest of my life! While I felt becoming a vet was out of my reach at that point I found something even better that satisfied all my needs of wanting to work with animals while giving me working flexibility and the opportunity to be my own boss!
I started Northumbria University in 2010 to complete my BSc Honours degree in human physiotherapy which was a 3 year course followed by starting to work for the NHS completing various rotations in neurology, respiratory, musculoskeletal, orthopaedics and community rehabilitation. While working for the NHS I then started my post graduate qualification at Liverpool University in veterinary physiotherapy while also having my 2 youngest boys. Hard work and looking back I wonder how I did NHS work, uni and having babies all at the same time other than sheer determination that I wasn't going to fail at this.
It paid off and in 2016 I set up my business, now named Peak Performance Physiotherapy Ltd. I left the NHS in 2019 and realised my dream of being fully self employed, working with animals, doing what I love. I still treat people but my focus is more towards horse riders now when their old injuries or asymmetry start to cause pain and discomfort in their horses. I get the best of both worlds as I can assess and treat both horse and rider.... and your dog!
As I come towards 10 years in business I have been reflecting back on everything I have learnt and how I have grown as a therapist- more on this in another blog! My passion is helping improve horses welfare, enabling them to live pain free happy lives and educating owners so they have the knowledge and skills to help keep their horses at their best. Last year I set up the VIP plans for horses to allow all horses regular access to physiotherapy while also allowing you to spread the cost and make savings.
More recently I have started setting up an educational online hub for all things physio. Tips and advice to help you, your horse and your dog stay pain free and performing at your best. This has been a long while in the making and I can't wait to share it with you!
Thats it from me for now
